The Premier Destination

for Media Arts

The place to develop and celebrate your own unique voice.

With the help of dedicated, experienced professors, world-class facilities, and a hands-on approach to learning, students deep dive into the art and craft of video, audio, radio, writing, research, and multimedia production.

BECA students have consistently demonstrated our successful approach for over sixty years. Our graduates work across the globe to entertain, inspire, and inform, earning Emmy, Oscar, Tony, Drama Desk, Golden Globe, Grammy, Peabody, and Theatre World awards.

KSFS Radio

KSFS Radio is operated by BECA students in our state-of-the-art facilities in Marcus Hall. We provide cutting-edge, free-form radio including music, talk, sports, and information. The shows we stream seek to push the boundaries of what radio can be.

KSFS serves as the radio station and podcast center for the university. We intend to be an integral part of the ongoing media (r)evolution and the myriad communities we serve, and we prioritize a dynamic educational experience for the students of BECA and San Francisco State University.

Audio Arts

Professional, studio-based training in music production, recording, mixing, and sound design. Students work in a real studio environment, recording Bay Area bands and mixing real multitrack sessions. Advanced coursework includes a capstone sound design class where teams create original 6–12 minute projects. Sonic arts classes offer students the chance to develop their storytelling skills through the audio medium.

Video & Television

Students write, produce, direct, engineer, and perform in a wide variety of programs including news, sports, comedy, drama, documentary, and live awards programs. Popular shows such as State of Events and Under SF are produced entirely by BECA students with the guidance of professors who bring real-world experience directly into the classroom and studios.
